Toothpaste

After that dissertation on toothpaste, you are probably wondering what brands actually fit our stringent guidelines. 😛 I’ve searched high and low for the brands represented here and I do look at every ingredient.

Uncle Harry’s

Some of the cleanest toothpaste I have found, to date! The ingredients are quite simple and they even have an Unscented Tooth Powder that our salicylate sensitive son has been able to use successfully. He does also use the Unscented Tooth Suds as well, without issues, probably because he uses so little.

I mix bamboo charcoal into this toothpaste to kick it up a notch! BAM! Now you have ionic mineral, charcoal toothpaste. 😁

They also have remineralization powder, products for people experiencing pain and sensitivity as well as tooth whitening products.

Ingredients in the Unscented Tooth Suds: Castile soap (water, potassium cocoate, trace naturally occurring glycerin) and ionic minerals.

Ingredients in the Unscented Tooth Powder: Calcium carbonate (natural chalk), sea salt, and mustard seed powder.

Bliss Energetics Remineralizing Tooth Butter

I love the ingredients in this handmade tooth butter. I have to warn you though, there is no foaming action and no taste, so it’s like brushing your teeth with fine ground paste made from the earth. It also uses hydroxyapatite, which is very new to the remineralization arena. I’m a fan of this, but most people won’t love the experience like I do, but I’m a seriously crunchy-mama.

Cleure

For the salicylate sensitive people, this is an option that we haven’t tried, because we avoid the glycerin ingredient since it prevents remineralization. If you don’t require remineralization, this may be the perfect toothpaste for you, since finding low salicylate toothpastes is really challenging.

Ingredients:

  • Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate) - removes stains, helps neutralize acids

  • Xylitol - studies report xylitol helps prevent tooth decay and promote saliva flow

  • Dicalcium Phosphate - studies report it helps tartar control, it is a mild abrasive, and whitening agent, as well as balancing calcium and phosphate levels for healthy teeth. It helps remineralize areas of teeth that have been attacked by acid from bacteria (deminaralized) and prone to tooth decay.

  • Glycerin - humectant: protects drying of toothpaste, vegan

  • Water

  • Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate - mild cleanser not related to SLS; derived from vegetable amino acids

  • Xanthan Gum - thickening agent, is a polysaccharide from types of sugar (corn)

Redmond’s Earthpaste

The link to this toothpaste is for the single tube of Lemon Twist.

This toothpaste is safe enough to swallow. The creator of Earthpaste couldn’t find a toothpaste without glycerin, fluoride, foaming agents, or coloring, so they made one! There are only five ingredients, and they all come from the earth! Water, Redmond Clay, Real Salt, essential oils, and xylitol. Unsweetened Spearmint Earthpaste doesn’t have xylitol — down to four ingredients!

PurO3 Tooth and Gum Support Tubes

This is not a toothpaste, it is an ozonated oil that you apply to the teeth and gums. Ozonated olive oil has been recommended recently by a growing number of health practitioners as a great support for gums and teeth, plaque removal, and more. The Tooth and Gum Support is made with a combination of ozonated organic olive oil and ozonated organic hemp oil with organic peppermint for improved taste. That's it.
