EMMA, ERMI and HERTSMI mold testing
EMMA, ERMI and HERTSMI testing utilize similar methods of testing, but by comparison the ERMI offers many more molds in the results (36), while the HERTSMI includes only “The Big 5” species: Aspergilus Penicilloides, Aspergillus Versicolor, Chaetomium Globosum,Stachybotrys Chartarum, Wallemia Sebi and the EMMA includes 12 species (listed below). The benefit to the EMMA is that you can also test the environment for mycotoxins, which are the neurotoxins we tend to accumulate from a water damaged building environment. Both the ERMI and HERTSMI tests are offered at the top two labs labs below. It’s just a matter of preference which lab you want to choose. The EMMA is available only at the bottom lab. If you decide to have an ERMI done, you can now have the results interpreted!! At this link, you will pay only $27 to have your ERMI interpreted to help you determine if you should say, sell, remediate, etc! The ERMI Code takes your ERMI sample result and compares it to 3 years of physical in-person inspection and testing data; providing reasonable expectations about the size of your remediation project and how that compares to other homes across the country.
